What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a process of building up a skill to increase a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and environment, in a nonjudgmental way.
Mindfulness involves acceptance of the current moment, which means we need to learn to pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them. We learn to sit with sensations without judging whether they are “right” or “wrong”. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts remain within the present moment, rather than rehashing thoughts of the past or imagining the future.
